Chapter Information

With more than 2,200 active members, Project Management Institute Southern Alberta Chapter (PMI-SAC) is a vibrant chapter in the Project Management Institute (PMI) network.  The chapter is focused on promoting project management principals within the community, business, and practitioners.

PMI-SAC is renowned for its knowledgeable and helpful volunteers who bring us world class events. The Highlights of the last two years include:

  • Canadian Project Management Week – recognizing PM Week across Canada, and helping to celebrate with a week full of professional development, grass roots, and networking events;
  • Region 1 Conference – focusing on chapter excellence, Southern Alberta hosted chapter leaders from northwest USA and Canada in an informative three-day conference;
  • Professional Development Conference – bringing popular, North American speakers to Calgary in a world-class, two-day professional development conference focusing on the practice of project management
  • PMI-SAC Awards Gala – recognizing project excellence in Southern Alberta with a formal dinner and award ceremony, including the new “People’s Choice” award;
  • Mentorship Program – matching mentors and protégés in a collaborative learning environment using concentrated mentorship campaigns;
  • PMP/CAPM Exam Preparation – coordinating and providing instructors for exam preparation sessions;
  • Monthly Dinner Meetings – promoting continued learning through engaging speakers and the opportunity to build business network amongst fellow professionals.

Vision Statement

Every action, event and service the PMI-SAC undertakes drives our Chapter closer to achieving our two-part vision. 

  • The PMI-SAC chapter will be recognized as a vibrant and innovative leader in the professional practice of Project Management in Southern Alberta.
  • PMI-SAC will be the association of choice for existing and aspiring Project Management professionals, businesses and educational organizations, supporting their networking, learning, mentoring, career needs and business requirements.

Mission Statement

PMI-SAC exists to promote project management values, principles, practices and capabilities in Southern Alberta by providing education, information and a forum for communication exchange for the benefit of its membership, the businesses in its geography, and current and aspiring project management professionals.

Strategic Goals

The PMI-SAC Board of Directors reviews its strategy and tactics quarterly against the following governing 2012-2015 strategic objectives:
