Free Professional Headshot, Courtesy of PMI-SAC
PMI-SAC is offering free profile picture for LinkedIn at our Jan 31 dinner meeting. We have contracted a photographer and will have the background canvas all set up. It will be free to chapter members. Shooting time will start around 5pm, and will go till approximately 7pm but will extend it if we have a long line up for a little to accommodate our members.
TIPS before you show up:
Dress Professionally. Because LinkedIn is a professional career and business platform, make sure that your photo depicts you in a manner appropriate for your field. Typically this means a dress shirt for men, a dress, blazer, or nice blouse for women, or a suit for either gender. Choose solid dark colors like blue or black, and don’t pick anything with a pattern that’s too busy. Avoid white; it can make you appear washed out, and red does not translate well online but that may be your personal preference.
Avoid wearing a strapless dress, top, or anything else too revealing that will make you appear naked. The key word here is “professional.” Dressing professionally also means avoiding the use of too much makeup or jewelry and distracting hairstyles.
Be Consistent. When developing your professional online brand, consistency is key. Therefore, it is a good idea to use the same photo for all your professional and social networking profile pictures.
The process is fast if you only want the free headshot, but either way, you’ll need to line up. Wait times will vary depending on how many people show up.
