Description

This fun and engaging presentation (complete with dancing and fireworks) will explore the product owner’s role within an enterprise. Joey will break down where theoretical concepts stop and the pragmatic reality of enterprise constraints begin. Examples of obstacles and challenges will be shared along with the attempts to navigate these difficulties (with varying degrees of success). The conversation will culminate with a generous allotment of time for q&a to maximize the value returned to the participants for their invested time.

Speaker Description

Joey Roa is a seasoned delivery professional with more than 20 years of experience in oil and gas, banking, and management consulting. His experience includes leading an agile transformation for a senior oil & gas producer, managing multi-million dollar programs, standing up and executing PMOs, and information technology strategy development. Joey is an honors graduate of the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business with concentrations in Management Information Systems and Finance. He maintains several credentials and continues to sharpen his saw thru active participation in thought leadership initiatives, contributing to industry conferences, and writing on various business and technology topics.

He is currently the Director of Suncor's Agile Centre of Excellence, whose mandate is to introduce, develop, and evangelize agile ways of working across Suncor's various business lines. For the past several years, he has been at the forefront of introducing and training Suncor departments on agile methodologies and formalizing agile-centric roles such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, Architecture Owner, and the Agile Coach (Team and Enterprise-level). He is also a post-secondary instructor with SAIT in agile transformation, project, program, and product management.
