When teamwork is done right, it creates more than results. It builds trust, connection, and lasting impact. Janine and Cybill exemplify this spirit, and PMI-SAC was proud to recognize them with the Spirit of Teamwork Award at our Volunteer Appreciation Event.
As Website Managers, Janine and Cybill play a vital role in keeping the PMI-SAC community informed, connected, and engaged. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt across every event registration, update, and interaction that supports our members and volunteers.
The Journey to Volunteering
Janine’s passion for project management began during her MBA studies in the Philippines and continued when she pursued further education at SAIT in Canada. It was through conversations with PMI-SAC volunteers that she discovered not only a professional community, but one rooted in support and shared purpose.
“They shared how meaningful and supportive the community is, and that inspired me to get involved,” Janine recalls.
Cybill’s journey has been shaped by a strong commitment to service and a desire to use technology to enable people and teams. Her focus on reliability, organization, and user experience has made her an invaluable contributor to PMI-SAC’s digital presence.
“For me, it is about creating systems people can depend on so the community can stay connected and focused on what matters most,” Cybill shares.
Behind the Scenes: Making the Magic Happen
As Website Managers, Janine and Cybill work in close partnership to maintain and continuously enhance PMI-SAC’s online platforms. Their collaboration ensures information is accurate, timely, and accessible to the community.
“People often say we make the magic happen, but behind the scenes, that magic is truly a team effort,” Janine explains. “Everyone’s support, input, and collaboration are what make everything possible.”
Cybill complements this work by coordinating updates, resolving technical issues, and ensuring a seamless experience for users.
“Good teamwork means anticipating needs, supporting one another, and making sure things just work,” she adds.
Together, their collaboration enables PMI-SAC to deliver professional, consistent, and dependable digital experiences.
Connecting Volunteering to Professional Growth
Volunteering has also been a powerful source of learning and growth for both Janine and Cybill.
“Volunteering has helped me meet people in the industry who I continuously learn from,” Janine shares. “The people I have met are supportive, approachable, and generous with their knowledge.”
For Cybill, the role has strengthened both her technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
“Working with a diverse volunteer team has helped me grow my collaboration and leadership skills in ways that extend beyond PMI-SAC,” she notes.
The Joy of Giving Back
What motivates both award recipients is seeing the impact of their contributions on the community.
“I enjoy being able to help, even in small ways, and seeing how those contributions keep the
community moving forward,” says Janine.
Cybill echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of enabling others.
“Knowing that our work supports volunteers and members and helps the chapter run smoothly is incredibly rewarding,” she shares.
Words of Encouragement for New Volunteers
For those considering volunteering with PMI-SAC, both Janine and Cybill offer thoughtful encouragement.
“Just go for it,” Janine says. “It is normal to feel uncertain when starting something new, but I love the saying, be scared and do it anyway.”
Cybill adds, “Once you take that first step, you will see how welcoming, supportive, and inspiring the PMI-SAC community truly is.”
A Legacy of Teamwork
At PMI-SAC, volunteers like Janine and Cybill remind us that strong communities are built through collaboration, commitment, and a shared willingness to serve. Their teamwork as Website Managers ensures PMI-SAC remains connected, informed, and resilient.
We are grateful for their dedication and proud to celebrate their well-deserved Spirit of Teamwork Award.
