What inspired you to start volunteering with PMI-SAC?
After earning my CAPM certification, I wanted to stay actively involved in the project
management profession while continuing to learn and grow. Volunteering with PMI-SAC
was the perfect opportunity to connect with experienced professionals, give back to the
community, and gain practical experience beyond the classroom.
What’s something most people don’t know about your role at PMI-SAC?
Many people don’t realize that creating the newsletter is a collaborative effort that
involves planning, coordinating with different teams, and ensuring members receive
timely and valuable updates. It’s more than putting content together—it’s about keeping
our community informed, engaged, and connected.
How does volunteering at PMI-SAC connect to or enhance your professional life?
Volunteering has strengthened my communication, organization, and stakeholder
management skills while allowing me to apply project management principles in a real-world setting. It has also expanded my professional network and exposed me to diverse
perspectives from professionals across different industries, which has been invaluable
to my career growth.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the volunteer community?
What I enjoy most is being part of a community that genuinely supports learning,
collaboration, and professional development. It’s inspiring to work alongside volunteers
who are passionate about making a positive impact and helping others grow in their
project management journey.
For someone thinking, “I’d love to volunteer, but I’m not sure where to start,”
what would you say to encourage them to take that first step with PMI-SAC?
Just take the first step. You don’t need to have years of experience to make a
meaningful contribution. Volunteering is a great way to build new skills, grow your
confidence, expand your network, and make a difference while learning from an
incredible community of professionals.
