Driven by a deep commitment to excellence and a passion for making a difference, Wilson is truly one of our most valued and humble assets. We are incredibly fortunate to have him on our team!
What inspired you to start volunteering with PMI-SAC?
I’ve always believed that meaningful innovation happens when people come together to share ideas, learn from one another, and build something bigger than themselves. PMI-SAC offered a unique opportunity to contribute to a community that is deeply committed to advancing the practice of project management in our region.
As someone who has spent much of my career leading transformation initiatives, I saw a strong alignment between PMI-SAC’s mission and my own passion for enabling organizations through technology, governance, and strong delivery practices. Volunteering allowed me to give back to a professional community that has shaped my career, while also helping strengthen the chapter’s long-term capability through modern, data-driven solutions.
What’s something most people don’t know about your role at PMI-SAC?
While the title “Lead Solutions Architect” suggests a technical focus, much of the role was actually about translating strategy into sustainable, organization-wide change. Beyond designing the CRM solution itself, a key part of my work involved establishing governance, defining standards, and aligning stakeholders across the chapter. It wasn’t just about building a system – it was about creating a foundation that teams could trust, adopt, and evolve over time.
In many ways, the most impactful work happens behind the scenes: aligning data models to business needs, ensuring security and compliance, and setting up frameworks that allow future volunteers to build on what’s already in place without starting from scratch.
How does volunteering at PMI-SAC connect to or enhance your professional life?
Volunteering with PMI-SAC has been a powerful extension of my professional work. It allows me to apply enterprise-level thinking in a community-driven environment, where agility, collaboration, and resourcefulness are essential.
It has also reinforced the importance of governance, data integrity, and user-centric design – especially in organizations that rely heavily on volunteer contributions. This experience has sharpened my ability to design solutions that are not only technically sound but also practical, scalable, and easy for teams to adopt.
Equally important, it has expanded my network with like-minded professionals who are passionate about delivery excellence and continuous improvement, which continues to influence and enrich my work in broader consulting and leadership roles.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the volunteer community?
What I enjoy most is the sense of shared purpose. Everyone is contributing their time and expertise because they genuinely want to make a difference – whether it’s supporting members, advancing the profession, or building something that will benefit others.
There’s also a unique energy in working with diverse, highly motivated individuals who bring different perspectives and experiences to the table. It creates an environment where ideas can evolve quickly, and where collaboration leads to real, tangible impact. For me, it’s incredibly rewarding to see how collective effort – especially in a volunteer setting, can drive meaningful outcomes and create lasting value for the community.
For someone thinking, “I’d love to volunteer, but I’m not sure where to start,” what would you say to encourage them to take that first step with PMI-SAC?
Start small, and don’t wait for the “perfect” opportunity. Volunteering isn’t about having everything figured out – it’s about being willing to contribute, learn, and grow along the way. PMI-SAC offers a wide range of roles, from event support to strategic initiatives, so there’s something for everyone regardless of experience level. The most important step is simply raising your hand and getting involved. Volunteering with PMI-SAC will gain practical experience, build meaningful relationships, and have the opportunity to make a real impact – not just on the organization, but on your own professional growth. In many ways, volunteering is one of the most accessible and rewarding ways to expand your skills while giving back to a community that invests in you.
